FAQs

THE QUESTIONS YOU MIGHT BE THINKING BEFORE WE WORK TOGETHER.

Whether you need an experienced PR director for two days a week, senior support for a stretched team or fresh thinking on a particularly knotty brief, here’s how I can help.

WHAT IS A FRACTIONAL PR DIRECTOR?

A fractional PR director provides senior communications leadership on a flexible, part-time basis.

You get the strategic thinking, experience and quality control of an established PR director—without the cost or commitment of employing someone full-time.

I can lead your communications strategy, support and develop your team, oversee agencies, sharpen creative work and make sure PR is delivering against the objectives that matter to your organisation.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A FRACTIONAL PR DIRECTOR AND A FREELANCE PR CONSULTANT?

The terms can overlap, but a fractional PR director will usually become an ongoing part of your leadership team, working a regular number of days each week or month.

Freelance PR consultancy is often more project-based. You might bring me in to develop a strategy, crack a brief, lead a campaign, strengthen a pitch or provide extra senior support during a busy period.

I offer both. We can shape the arrangement around what your team actually needs—not squeeze your problem into a predetermined package.

WHEN MIGHT A BUSINESS NEED A FRACTIONAL PR DIRECTOR?

A fractional PR director can be particularly useful when:

  • You need senior PR leadership but aren’t ready to make a permanent hire.

  • Your communications team needs more direction or support.

  • Your existing PR lead is overstretched or temporarily unavailable.

  • You’re preparing for a major launch, campaign or period of change.

  • You need someone experienced to manage an agency or multiple partners.

  • Your PR activity feels busy but isn’t delivering enough impact.

  • You want to raise the creative and strategic standard of the work.

Sometimes you know exactly what the gap is. Sometimes you simply know the current approach isn’t quite working. I can help untangle both.

WHO DO YOU WORK WITH?

I work with brands, charities and PR agencies that need experienced, director-level support without another full-time salary.

That includes established businesses, ambitious SMEs, purpose-led organisations and agencies that need extra senior firepower for a client, pitch or project.

I’m particularly passionate about working with charities and purpose-driven or female-led brands—but I’m always interested in a juicy communications challenge.

DO YOU WORK WITH PR AGENCIES?

Yes. Having spent more than 15 years in senior agency roles, I understand the pressures, pace and politics of agency life.

I can slot into an existing team to support pitches, crack difficult briefs, develop earned-first creative ideas, provide senior quality control, manage campaigns or give stretched directors some breathing room.

I can work visibly as part of the client team or quietly behind the scenes—whatever best suits the project.

CAN YOU WORK WITH AN EXISTING IN-HOUSE OR MARKETING TEAM?

Absolutely. I’m there to strengthen your team, not tread on its toes.

I can lead the communications function, mentor less-experienced team members, add a senior perspective, help marketing and PR work more effectively together or take ownership of a particular challenge.

Clients often say I quickly feel like an extension of their team. That is always the aim.
